More Tim Keller!

Here are two Tim Keller talks that I would recommend for anyone and everyone. If you’ve got some tasks to do on the computer that allow you to devote your attention elsewhere, check these out (each is a bit lengthy, so you may have to listen in pieces). They might be available to download somewhere too. I’ve also included some quotes from each one that highlights a portion of his talk.

1. Who is this Jesus? (first talk listed on website)
Quotes:
"Don’t come to Christianity because it is relevant, it’s exciting, and it will meet your needs, though it is all those...Come because it’s true, and because it’s true, it will mean your needs, exciting, and is relevant. And if it’s not true, it’s a placebo."

"Jesus claims full allegiance of every human...The magnitude of Jesus’ claim and impact shows that you better not just doubt that he is not God, you better know that he is not God...because if there is chance that it’s true and you miss it, your life is ruined."

2. The Grand Demythologizer: The Gospel and Idolatry
Quotes:
"If you’re trying to communicate the gospel to anybody, you need to know what their idols are. Because the gospel is you’re saved by grace, and the idol is you’re saved by something else. It’s one thing to say ‘oh, you’re saved by grace, you’re not justified by works’ but do you realize how many different forms of works there are? do you realize how many different forms of works righteousness there really are out there? Unless you know what form you’re talking to, then how do you know how to apply the gospel to it?"

"Unless you understand personal idols, your counseling, your pastoring, your preaching is going to be so superficial. You’ll just be laying ideas on people, concepts on people. It’s not going to touch them."
